Grade Two Art-

Students have begun a “Drawing Unit” by experimenting with many different drawing techniques. They have practiced how to draw lines that show movement, texture and rhythm. Then the techniques were used to create a composition of their own.

The technique of “Drawing on the Right Side of the Brain,” encourages students to draw what they are really looking at instead of what they think it looks like. Students are encouraged to look for shapes and compare the length and angle of lines they see.  We will be drawing common objects such as boxes and pop cans.

Grade Two students just completed “Kaleidoscopes”   that show radial symmetry.  1/6 of a circle is designed and xeroxed off 6 times. After the pieces  are colored and glued together, students are surprised with the new design they have created. These can be seen in the show case outside my classroom door.
